Lizzie & Brad: Disneyland Engagement Photographer

engagement

A few months ago I got an e-mail from my friend Lizzie, she’s a photographer from Arizona and we met a few years ago on twitter and met in person at Disneyland last summer when she came to California. But back to the e-mail, she asked if I would be interested in photographing her and her boyfriend, Brad, at Disneyland when they came back to California this summer. Of course I said yes, it’s a HUGE honor for me to be asked to photograph a fellow photographer. Like, HUGE. So I was extremely flattered, wrote the date in my calendar and then moved on.

Fast forward to about 2 weeks ago, I log online and open Facebook only to see at the very top of my newsfeed that Lizzie and Brad went from “In a Relationship” to “Engaged”. *EEEE* Brad proposed to Lizzie on the first night of their Southern California family vacation. [You can read the whole story on on Lizzie’s Blog.] That meant this Disneyland just for fun session instantly became an Engagement session. Talk about pressure! ;] Thankfully I didn’t have time to dwell on my nerves before the session, the day job, Owl City, and 2 weddings the week before their session ate up all my potential freaking out time. When we met on Main Street and Lizzie confessed she was just as nervous to be in front of my camera as I was to have her in front of my camera my nerves were definitely eased. And let me tell you, these two, WOW. They have no reason to be nervous in front of a camera. They were so natural and amazing it was like the perfect session! I always hate it when I hear photographers say “This was my favorite session to date!” because they say it about every session, honestly, some of these images are my favorite that I’ve taken ever. I LOVE this session! So, I’ll stop typing now, then you can enjoy them as much as I do.

You know it’s going to be an amazing session when this is the VERY first frame you shoot.

One of my favorites from the day 😀

I may or may not have made them trespass into an employee only area… but I think the result was worth it ;]

Hands down. This is my favorite shot of the day. Lizzie even got in trouble for sitting on the side of the popcorn cart and I don’t even care, it was TOTALLY worth it for this shot!

We were fighting our way down Main Street when we took this photo, the Parade was going on and it was *insanely* crowded. As I snapped the shot an employee working in one of the shots came running out to see if I was photographing someone famous and then proceeded to tell Brad & Lizzie they were the cutest thing she’d ever seen. Oh, Disney. <3

Usually when I do sessions at Disneyland we always run out of time before we have a chance to head to California Adventure. We made time during this shoot, and I’m glad we did 😀

Lizzie & Brad, thank you. I had SO much fun with you, I can’t even put it to words. You were both so amazing and fun to hang out with and you rocked it in front of the camera. Professional models, both of you. I can’t believe you didn’t tell me before hand ;] Thank you so much for trusting me, of all the photographers you know, to photograph you. Your support, encouragement, and friendship means the world to me. <3

[…] Lizzie & Brad: Flagstaff Arizona Wedding Photographer Thursday, September 20, 2012 10:15 am Posted in weddings A few years ago I got a Twitter account and through tweeting I met a handful of amazing young photographers, over the years a few of us have been able to meet in person and every time I am amazed by how technology brings people from across the country together. Last summer, Lizzie, one of those twitter friends, was coming to California with her family to escape the Arizona heat and since her boyfriend Brad was coming along and at the time they didn’t have too many professional pictures together and since they love Disneyland Lizzie got in touch with me and asked if we could get together for a portrait session at Disneyland. No big deal. Except, a few days before their portrait session I get a text from Lizzie that said something like: BRAD PROPOSED!!!!!!! I guess our portrait session just turned in to an ENGAGEMENT session!! […]
