This Millwick wedding in DTLA is what my dreams are made of. I remember very clearly early in my photography career, back when I was working multiple day jobs and shooting in every spare moment I could find, I rented a lens [the 35mm] and went to Downtown LA by myself. I wandered the streets with my iPod Mini shooting for fun and falling in love with the city.
When I booked my first wedding in Downtown LA at the Carondelet House I cried. I love the city.
So of course this Millwick wedding is right up my alley.
The day started in a downtown loft for the guys and at the Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles for the girls. After a quick first look we made our way to a parking garage for portraits. That is my FAVORITE thing. The contrast of gorgeous dresses, heels, makeup and flowers with the super basic backdrop of a parking garage is my favorite. I mean, when you look at parking garages they’re not what most people would call beautiful but I would happily shoot in them every day.
After parking garage adventures it was time to head to Millwick for the ceremony. Millwick is really the perfect wedding location. It has the perfect mix of indoor and outdoor space. Zoe and Gabe had their ceremony outside in the garden and after cocktail hour the glass overhead doors were rolled up and the reception took place inside. Perfection.
Huge thank you to Jenna for having me along as a second shooter. ♥

I remember one of your earliest weddings, an older guest being thoroughly confused as to why you were shooting in an alley.
I love the soft and beautiful against the urban. Your eye is incredible!!
