In January of 2016 I went on the most amazing adventure. Aside from getting to see New Zealand– which was beyond fantastic! The best part of the trip was coming home with new friendships. One of my favorite friendships is with my East Coast Bestie, Bri, of Brianna Wilbur Photography. Even though we live on opposite coasts we talk all the time, texting film scans back and forth and offering opinions on which should be our insta sneak peek. [Plus I get videos of her cutest little daughter. Best ever.] So when Bri asked if I would meet her in Vermont to second shoot a Grand Isle Lake House Wedding I booked a flight immediately.
Vermont is very different from California. In case you were wondering. Not only is everything SO GREEN it also rains there. Who knew. So in the middle of July we prepared to move all of the outdoor festivities inside the lake house. Because so much rain.
As the morning progressed and Keely and Mike were ready for their first look there was a break in the rain so we planned to take advantage and set up outside! Yay!! But as Keely made her way down the stairs it started raining again so we moved to the porch. If you look closely you can see the rain drops on Mike’s jacket. After the first look there was a break in the rain again and between Keely, Mike, Bri and I we decided to throw the timeline out the window jump in our rental car and drive 2 minutes to the shore of Lake Champlain for some portraits just in case that was the only rain-free time we had.
It wasn’t the only rain-free time we had. While the clouds didn’t clear the rain held off for the rest of the afternoon and Keely and Mike were able to have a beautiful outdoor, lakeside wedding ceremony. The perfect day.
My favorite story from this wedding happened early in the day as Keely was getting ready. She told us that as a little girl she’d been to a Grand Isle Lake House wedding and she’d dreamed her whole life of being married at the same lakeside location. So perfect.
Happy Tuesday, everyone! ♥
