The South End, New Hampshire & Maine: personal
I know, I know. 10 days. It’s been ten days since I last blogged… and I believe it was in that post I promised I wouldn’t go so many days without blogging. Again. I’m clearly full of lies. Whoops. But, if you read to the end, it will be worth it. ;]
For as long as I can remember I’ve been dreaming about East Coast falls. Leaves changing, scarves, boots, coffee in hand. But for just as long, 3,000 miles seemed really far away. I would start every year hopeful that this was the year, but after awhile I was afraid to even say that out loud because it never seemed to be the year. I tried to tuck Boston away, but the reality is I knew the exact Home Away apartment I wanted to stay in and I could recite flight prices at any given moment because I was ready to go. On September 25th when I boarded a red eye flight that would take me to a week on the East Coast I don’t think I realized it was real, I’m still not sure I realize it was real. ;]
As this week goes on I’m going to blog photos and our adventures from the trip. And then, if you read all the way to the end, there will be a little giveaway. 😀 Annie, Brenna and I took a red eye flight into the city, thinking that we’d be fully functioning when we landed at early o’clock California time. Not the case, we confirmed that as we walked through the South End for a few hours that morning and then walked a few miles in the wrong direction when we were trying to get back to our car. We thought we were following the iPhone map correctly… we were wrong. So we went back to the hotel and I promptly fell asleep for a good 3 hours.

I’m not going to lie, the vines make me teary. I really miss this place.

Candice flew in a day after we did, and we had big plans for that day. Road trip! We picked her up from the airport, stopped at Starbucks and promptly hopped on the 93 and made our way to New Hampshire to see the White Mountains. I think I was a little over excited to be somewhere new, because it quickly became a goal to cross as many state lines as humanly possible.

I just wanted to pull off and stare at the trees. For hours.

These photos don’t do the beauty of this place justice. It was absolutely breathtaking. We pulled off at every single “scenic” spot.

Of course we had to stop for pictures… because it wouldn’t be a trip with Stacee without a photoshoot. ;]

My friends are starting to learn how to use my camera… after I set the shutter speed and aperture and tell them exactly where to stand. It’s handy.

We walked across the state line from New Hampshire into Maine.

We wandered around Portland, Maine for a few hours before we got back on the highway to head back to Boston.

This is one of my favorite images from the whole trip. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be blown up into a ginormous canvas.

I am a ridiculously sentimental person, not even kidding. I hold on to some crazy things, like notes from high school or Skittles wrappers because a friend bought them for me when I was having a bad day. Crazy sentimental. I think that’s part of the reason why it takes me soooo long to blog personal posts, especially trips, because once it’s blogged it’s over. And, especially with this trip, I never want it to be over. So, over the next few days as I’m sharing this part of me with you, I would love for you to share with me too.
On every trip I take I always pick up a coffee mug, so when I’m having my morning coffee I can remember. I have mugs from New York, San Francisco, Canada, Seattle, Birch Bay… and a ton more but I can’t think of where and I’m too lazy to get up and look in the cabinet, but it’s overflowing! While I was in Boston, I picked up an extra mug, to give away to one of you. :] Over the next few days leave a comment on this post telling me your story of a trip or an experience, something you waited for — or are still waiting for! Something you’ve dreamed about. Like I dreamed about Boston. The winner will be announced on Monday December 3rd.
