Diana & Andrew: Palos Verdes Maternity Photographer

Maternity

Sometimes, when I find an extra minute in my day to slow down, I look at my life and laugh. This week I had one of those moments, I was on my lunch break at the library, sitting in my car, reading “The Thinking Woman’s Guide to a Better Birth”. I’m not pregnant and there’s ZERO chance I’ll be pregnant any time soon, but now I’m incredibly well informed about the risks involved with inducing labor.

I, clearly, have WAY too many doula friends.

I don’t know what it is about pregnancy but lately [and by lately I mean for the last year! LOL] I’ve been so intrigued by it, maybe because so many of my friends are pregnant, maybe because Alexis is a walking encyclopedia of all things birth related, or maybe because I’m absolutely in awe of how God so perfectly orchestrated a woman’s body to carry and give life to a tiny miracle.

I’ve said it 100 times before, but maternity sessions are my favorite. When Diana asked if I could schedule a maternity session with her and her hubby, Andrew, I was thrilled! I’m telling you, fa.vor.ite! I drove around to find the perfect location, and we scheduled it for the time with the prettiest light, and come the day of the shoot I could not contain my excitement… as I’m sure you’ll be able to tell by the many many photos that are in this blog post ;] Thankfully, Diana didn’t think I was crazy because she was just as excited about this session as I was! The little girl she is carrying, who will arrive any day now!, is her and Andrew’s second baby [their son, Daniel, was at home with Grandpa taking a nap during the shoot]. During her first pregnancy Diana documented everything, but recently all of their photos were lost in a computer crash so she didn’t want to let this pregnancy end without photographs. ♥

You can hardly tell in these photographs but as we were shooting, you know, at that amazing location that I picked out for their session, my nemesis The Marine Layer started to roll in. Thankfully Diana and Andrew completely trusted me when I said we should try to drive above the fog and go somewhere else to finish the session.

I am SO glad we moved locations, this is exactly the sun I was dreaming about.

The way she’s looking at him right here. :’]

This shoot was my last session of 2011, and I have to say, I cannot thing of a better way to end 2011 and start 2012. A maternity session, a couple in love, and amazing light. *swoon*.

If you are on the fence about booking a maternity session, please email me. I’m not exaggerating when I say these are my favorite sessions. Don’t let 9 months go by without documenting such amazing, amazing time in your life.
