I adore maternity sessions. There is something magical about being pregnant, not that I know from experience, but I know second hand… and that’s just as good right? ;] Over the last few weeks Zoe has loved to come over to my house, the main reason? She wants to see my puppy. She looooves coming in and holding on to me real tight while we go find Maggie and the whole time Zoe says “Puppy! Puppy!“. It’s really the cutest thing, especially when she’s feeling particularly brave and she says “Puppy, kiss!“. Yesterday Zoe didn’t want me to leave her house, we’d been hanging out all afternoon, reading books and enjoying many after nap snuggles and giggles. But I needed to run some errands and Zoe was not having it. She came up to me with tears in her eyes and said “Puppy… Maggie!“, my heart melted into a puddle on the floor. I love that baby so much, but the love didn’t start when she could say my name or when she could walk to my house or even the day she was born. It started the minute Alexis leaned in to my car and told me she was pregnant and it grew when I went to the doctor and heard her heart beat and it grew when I found out she was going to be a girl, and it’s only grown. But it started in pregnancy.

I think to skip out on maternity photos is to skip out on where your love first began, I *really* think they’re important.

So naturally I was THRILLED when Yvette contacted me about setting up a maternity session. I met Yvette and Hugo in Pasadena a few weekends ago to document this important time in their lives. Their little bundle of joy will be here near the end of the month and I couldn’t be more excited for them!

This is Yvette’s sister Hilda, the tanktop Yvette is wearing belonged to her when she was pregnant with her daughter, she saved it for a few years and now that Yvette is having summer baby it was *perfect* for her!
