There’s A Mustache On My Face: personal

personal

Over the weekend I was reading a book about Pete Souza, President Obama’s personal photographer. The book was full of photographs of US presidents and facts about them and their photographers. Lyndon B. Johnson was the first president to have a personal photographer. He was hired on to White House staff after people started contemplating how revolutionary it would have been for Abraham Lincoln to have a personal photographer. Imagine!? Now, up to 20,000 photographs are taken each WEEK in the White House, what if that had been possible back then??

After reading all of this and looking at some incredible photographs, I started thinking about how amazing it would be to be someone’s personal photographer. To capture the important and the seemingly minuscule moments of a person’s life, to give a person a photographic history of themselves. Yes, I do believe that would be my dream job. :]

Then, I was reminded: I already have that job. [Please forgive the poor quality images!]

I may not be a presidential photographer, but I have the opportunity every day to photograph people I love and capture their memories and give them a personal photographic history.

Happy Tuesday!
