March: goals

personal

I know this is going to be shocking for you, Internet: but I hate being in front of the camera. Seriously. Stacee Fact: when I was in high school I always had a camera in hand but as soon as someone printed a photo of me [which was a RARE capture!] I would put a sticker over my face, because I just didn’t want to see it. I was weird… and painfully insecure.

I can count the number of times I have voluntarily gotten in front of the camera for a “photoshoot” on one hand.

1. When I was interning with Jamie Delaine in Vancouver.
2. Over a year later when us IMAGINE interns got together for lunch in Oceanside.
3. When Zoe was 4 months old.
4. When I bribed Jack to take pictures with me.
5. Last week when I got new headshots done.

Where am I going with this post, you ask? Well last month one of my February Goals was to not freak out about getting my headshots done. I think I *almost* succeeded. I had my moments, but over all I think I did a pretty ok job being in front of the camera, you can ask my amazing friend Katie if you want to be sure though ;] and what better way to follow up on goals than to share some of the photos with you?

Also, can I just be real with you for a second? This was the first time of my 5 photo shoots that I invested in having my makeup professionally done. I cannot put in to words how much of a difference it made for me confidence wise. For someone who hates being in front of the camera spending an hour pampering myself by letting someone else do my makeup [and hair! Thank you Alexis for curling it!!] was seriously enough to bring me to tears. I don’t think I can remember a time where I felt “pretty” in photographs, until last Monday. So, my dear clients, please consider getting your hair and makeup done for your session. I can tell you first hand that it will make you feel amazing, and when you feel amazing it will shine through in your photographs. And, you should all contact Shirley, she’s amazing and totally my favorite. ;]

And now I bring you, my March Goals.

1. Officially start working from my desk… and not from random places in the house.
2. Run outside. I’m coming to the end of the Couch to 5k app and while I can run on a treadmill… I need to realize that when I actually run The Color Run I’m not going to have the threat of falling off the treadmill to keep me motivated. ;]
3. Start redecorating my room, so when I start working from my desk I’m not appalled by my office space. More specifically order prints like these and curtains… because natural light makes life bearable.
4. Survive a public speaking adventure. Remember this day? Please tell me why I said yes to doing this again. 😐
5. Using Two Bright Lights, submit at least 1 wedding and 1 engagement session for online publication.
